Ludwig counsels and represents clients on trademarks and patents. His background is production engineering: mechanical engineering and mechatronics. He advises with a focus in start-ups and SMEs.

IP in and for China is his speciality.

Altogether he is rather no “typical attorney” and supports preferably in an unconventional, pragmatic manner.

Ludwig started his career with an apprenticeship as a mechanic. A French/German Double-Master’s program in the fields of production engineering (École d’ingénieurs), several stays abroad and a job as production engineer followed. Prior to joining Paustian he worked for int. law firms. For several years, he counselled government agencies in the UAE and participated in a Sino/German exchange program for IP attorneys. He is an IP-mentor in various start-up organisations.

He represents clients before the European Trademark Office EUIPO, the European Patent Office (EPO), the German Patent and Trademark Office (DPMA), the Austrian Patent Office (ÖPA), the Benelux Office for IP (BOIP), the Swiss Institute of Intellectual Property (IPI), the Unified Patent Court (UPC), the German Federal Patent Court (BPatG). He is active member of the China Forum Bavaria and the East Asian Association (OAV).

Privately he gets his hands oily restoring historical trucks & cars and tinkering on offroad-solutions in his workshop. He is a patent applicant himself.
